20 Simple Ways to Actually Enjoy Homeschool (Not Just Survive It)

Homeschool is an ebb and flow.

Some days flow smoothly, you tick off (most) things and end the day feeling like it's the best thing in the world.

Other days?

You can find me crying in my room 🥲

Thankfully this isn't the norm in our homeschool house of 7.

I think it's because I've mastered the trick of scattering little pockets of joy into my day.

Not for my kids, but for me.

20 Ways to Make Homeschool Fun for You Too

  1. Start your day with a proper coffee (not reheated 3 times)
  2. Build frequent breaks into your rhythm (not just for the kids… for you)
  3. Choose curriculum and resources you actually enjoy teaching
  4. Say yes to spontaneous days out (and call it “learning”)
  5. Create a cosy homeschool space that you love being in
  6. Play music or a podcast in the background while you do lighter tasks
  7. Stack homeschool with something you enjoy (sunshine, fresh air, a walk)
  8. Keep lessons short so the day doesn’t drag on forever
  9. Rotate activities so you’re not bored out of your mind
  10. Plan a simple “anchor” for the day so you don’t feel scattered
  11. Let go of anything that feels forced or draining
  12. Sit down with your kids instead of hovering or micromanaging
  13. Include subjects you love (art, nature study, reading together)
  14. Take your homeschool outside whenever you can
  15. Batch prep things that make your life easier (snacks, activities, books)
  16. Lower the bar on hard days (minimum viable homeschool is still enough)
  17. Laugh more—don’t rush past the funny, chaotic moments
  18. Connect with other homeschool mums (even just one friend who gets it)
  19. End the day earlier than you think you “should”
  20. Protect a little pocket of time just for yourself after homeschool

If this all sounds good in theory but you’re not sure how to actually make it work in your real life…

that’s exactly why I created the Homeschool Reset.

It walks you step-by-step through simplifying your days, creating a rhythm, and actually enjoying homeschool again (without overcomplicating it).
